Dr. De Anda received his B.S. in Kinesiology from the San Diego State University in 2002 and received his M.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2006. He then attended a Post-Professional Doctoral Program and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy again from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2015.
Since 2006, Dr. De Anda has open three physical therapy clinics in the San Antonio area. Where he continues help people with physical injuries and disorders to get back to a normal living with medication, injections or surgeries. He also writes weekly articles on health for San Antonio’s Bilingual Newspaper La Presa. He writes to educate and bring awareness to the community on a variety of subjects of physical aliment such as lower back pain, sciatica, balance and falls, joint disorders, and prevention. He has recently published his book on Lower back pain and Sciatica.
Dr. De Anda and his wife Sonia, work together to a run a successful clinic and raise three kids. While he loves to travel all over the United States helping people with pain, he does love his Texan home after all he is a 8th generation Texan. Besides his love for physical therapy, he also enjoys a very active life of running, cycling, swimming, martial arts, and participating in distance races without the limitations of physical pain. He hopes you will begin your journey to recover from whatever pain you may have by breaking free from your self- limiting thoughts and myths, understanding what causing your pain, and recognizing best practices for healing.
Sonia De Anda
Sonia De Anda is the Co-Owner of Optimum Physio. Sonia was born and raised in Montreux, Switzerland where she began working in health care managing a dental clinic for Dr. Halbriter. At the age of 21 she decided to go to San Diego, CA to learn English. During her Study abroad she met and later married Dr. Mark De Anda
In 2006, She started a home health company to provide therapy services to the people in the San Antonio, TX and the surrounding rural communities. Since 2006, she and Dr. De Anda, have opened three physical therapy outpatient clinics and continue to provide therapy services for patients at the home.
Together they have raised 3 beautiful children that they are very proud of. She travels all over the United States to understand how to better serve her San Antonio community through physical therapy. Besides running a physical therapy clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering her time at the dual language school in which all 3 of her children attend and study. Sonia’s family is European so she makes it a point to go home regularly to visit and enrich her family with the Italian and Swiss culture.
Antonio Chavez received his B.S. degree in Kinesiology for Athletic Medicine, from the University of Texas San Antonio in 2017. Antonio is a candidate for the 2018- 2019 Doctor of Physical Therapy programs in San Antonio and El Paso, TX
Mr. Chavez was born and raised in El Paso, TX. He decided to move to San Antonio upon receiving his associates degree in Dental Science. However, upon working in field of Physical Therapy he decided to pursue a degree Kinesiology, and continue his post graduate studies to ultimately become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Antonio began his work with the San Antonio community, in 2015 as he began to volunteer at physical therapy clinics such as Optimum Physio , and other clinic in central and south San Antonio . He was impressed by the way patients improved tremendously from therapy treatments. Antonio felt he could make a difference through public education on subjects such as health and nutrition, proper exercise, and correct alignment and posture, he enjoys making an impact by using his education, knowledge and experience health and fitness.
In his free time Antonio enjoys being very active. He is an avid long distance and marathon runner, open water swimming and non-conventional weight lifting. He enjoys reading up on new literature or studies on the latest forms of therapy and understanding how it has impacted his local community.
